Jewish-ish
Jewish-ish is an autobiographical, solo show, combining storytelling with violin playing. Secular Jew and classical music nerd, Laura Nerenberg, takes her audience to pivotal events from childhood, adolescence and young adulthood that forced her to confront her Jewish identity while she built her life as a professional musician. Through misadventures at French Catholic school, graduate school, her grandparents' dining room and Jewish camp, “Laura tells her story with honesty, humour, generosity, compassion, and courage, not to mention excellent storytelling skills and masterful musicianship.” The final chapter of her story takes place on stage, in the present, with the audience as witness.
