Boys' Club

On his 2022 single “Easier to Shout”, rapper Alick Mac offered a self-reflective yet holistic critique of modern masculinity, blending personal experience with social commentary. Following the re-election of Donald Trump and the rise of the online manosphere, Alick delves further into his examination of masculinity with "Boys' Club". In a show that placed second as the 2025 Nanaimo "Pick of the Fringe", Alick mixes personal anecdotes and original songs to offer reflections on misogyny, mental health and masculinity. Described by Yvette Dudley-Neuman - the Nanaimo Fringe Artistic Producer - as “timely, powerful and socially resonant”, Alick muses on everything from the dangers of Deepfake technology to male friendship dynamics. Delivering an urgent and timely message, “Boys’ Club” takes stock of a bleak present while offering an aspirational vision of the future.

About the Artist

Alick Mac is a rapper, singer and songwriter based in the Comox Valley. His style is defined by his honest, vulnerable songwriting, evidenced by his award-winning single “Easier to Shout”, which challenges traditional conceptions of masculinity. Another distinguishing feature of Alick’s artistry is his versatility, demonstrated by recent releases “500 Days”, a soft melancholic piano ballad and “World in My Palm”, an infectious pop-rap track which centers around digital addiction.

In 2024 Alick finished 2nd place in the Music in Motion Canada Awards. His other accolades include winning the 2025 Zattzoo Project Battle of the Bands in Port Alberni and the 2026 Sooke Battle of the Bands. An experienced performer, Alick has opened for the likes of Snotty Nose Rez Kids, Bankrol Hayden, Codefendants and Moka Only.
