As she grieves the loss of her friend, Sister Beatrice, she grapples with the cost of her half century of devotion in her own restless night of the soul. Through humorous and serious musings and songs, Sister Sophia confronts g(G)od and in her quest to be heard, she discovers a surprising newfound outlook on life. A comedy/drama about crisis with songs, dance, sincerity, irreverence and audience interaction.

About the Artist
Lisa Randall is a solo performer, singer, actor and award-winning playwright. Her play, The Sorauren Book Club, received Patron’s Pick Award at the 2022 Toronto Fringe and toured to the Orlando Fringe in 2023. April 2026, Lisa’s short play ‘Back to the Garden’ was a part of SAWITRI Theatre’s English Shorts Festival and Process Theatre’s 10-minute Play Festival. Lisa continues to develop this play as well as writing a new solo piece. Lisa acted in the sold-out run of the play, Desperate Measures written by Rachel Moore and Katherine Teichman, at the Toronto Fringe 2024 which also won the My Entertainment World critics’ pick Best New Play award. She has co-led two musical groups and recorded two albums. Lisa is thrilled to once again work with the brilliant Kate Johnston after the success of ‘Sister Sophia Kicks the Habit’ last summer at the Hamilton Fringe where it was selected by the Hamilton Vibe as ‘10 shows not to miss’ with sold out shows. Kate Johnston is an Independent multi-award-winning filmmaker known for her films Tru Love, Stormcloud, Click, Slow Burn and Trashed. Kate also has a background in theatre, and has acted in, written, dramaturged, and directed numerous plays for the stage. More recent credits include The Last Word by Jan Miller Corran starring Barbara Niven, which Kate dramaturged and directed in Los Angeles, garnering critical praise. She most recently dramaturged and directed the workshop and public presentation of The Samuel Stout Project, about the first Black resident of Port Perry Canada (1867), written by Uju Umenyi.) Kate was honoured to dramaturg and direct Lisa Randall’s one woman show ‘Sister Sophia Kicks the Habit’ for the Hamilton Fringe last year and excited to bring it to the Victoria Fringe!
