Lover Girl
Can an unloved girl heal the world?
From her bold beginnings as a street outreach crisis worker to the battlegrounds of couples therapy, Tamara Lynn Robert has spent three decades trying to make better lovers of us all …while her own love life is an epic disaster.
Professionally, she’s unstoppable. Personally, she’s a lover-girl train wreck.
From a fevered Fringe fling, to the perils of polyamory, to the lessons in love she never wanted, Lover Girl is a funny, heroic and tender tale about what it really takes to love.
Lover Girl celebrates people pleasers (let's stop shaming them!!), front line workers, the lovers, the dreamers and anyone who still dares to believe in love

About the Artist
Tamara’s love of theatre began at age 13. Her small high school didn’t have theatre classes or a drama club, so she started one herself. In a high school gymnasium, she became the writer, director, producer, costume designer, set designer, and promoter—all rolled into one.
In 2007, she began her love affair with Fringe Festivals in Winnipeg, MB when she brought Strange Bedfellows featuring Confessions of a P.K. Pin up to stage. after a series of independently produced shows. In 2010 she toured her solo show Psycho Bitch to three cities across Canada. The show explored her experience of being misdiagnosed with bipolar disorder and navigating the mental health system, opening conversations about stigma, identity, and resilience.
After years of working on the front lines as a crisis worker, Tamara returned to school to become a psychotherapist and eventually specialized in couples therapy. Whether in the therapy room or on stage, she has always been fascinated by love, connection, and the stories people carry.
Lover Girl grew out of a simple idea: to tell the truth about love. The messy, the funny, the ugly, the heartbreaking, and sometimes embarrassing parts of love. The show is a funny, brave and tender exploration of love, loss, and what we do to avoid both. After all, the most important story we ever tell is the one we tell ourselves about how we have loved and let ourselves be loved.
