CLUBGARDEN
CLUBGARDEN is a contemporary dance work blending vogue, reggaeton, modern dance and Latin rhythms. Inspired by T.S. Eliot’s Burnt Norton, it creates an immersive ‘clubgarden’ of freedom, memory and transformation, rooted in queer expression and cultural hybridity.

Founded in 2025 by Mexican‑Indigenous artist Ángel Ramos, Verso Dance Collective is a queer‑led company based in Victoria, BC. Verso weaves contemporary dance and ballet with ballroom, vogue, and Latin social rhythms to create work that celebrates queer expression, cultural hybridity, and embodied resistance. The collective nurtures inclusive creative environments and expands access to professional dance for diverse local communities.
Ángel Ramos is a freelance dancer and choreographer from Mexico, currently based in Canada. Their work blends classical ballet, contemporary dance, and vogue into a dynamic practice shaped by training at Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla and Ballet Victoria Conservatory, working alongside Ballet Victoria’s Professional Company. Ramos has directed dance films for the Arts and Culture Department of Puebla in Mexico, choreographed for an adaptation of Romeo and Juliet with the Vancouver Island Symphony and created pieces for festivals and queer dance events in Victoria. They have collaborated with and studied under choreographers and teachers including Edgar Madrid (Mexico), Kathy Lang, Peter Starr, and Andrea Bayne, performing in productions ranging from Carmina Burana, The Fairy Doll, Spring Waters and Swan Lake to contemporary works. Currently pursuing studies in cultural management, Ramos continues to expand their artistic vision, celebrating diversity, resilience, and the transformative power of dance.
Jack & Jill
From the earliest stories we’re told, gender comes in pairs: Jack and Jill. This show is designed as a tactile representation of gender: tracing its edges, stretching its fabric, trying it on, shedding it, and sometimes dancing with it. We treat these characters not as static truths, but as roles we play, both onstage and off.

Burger & Briggs is an improvisational theatre duo whose work lives between emotion, movement, and play. Made up of Helen Burger (she/they) and D’Arcy Briggs (he/they), the two first met as students in Paper Street Theatre’s Masterclass program. Their backgrounds in dance, production, and improvisational theatre informs a practice that is both grounded and fluid, shaped by the room, the moment, and the connection between performers and audience. They have performed at Paper Street Theatre’s Improv Festival, Impulse Theatre’s Peek Festival, Theatre Skam’s Skampede Festival, and many other events in the region. At its core, the work of Burger & Briggs is an invitation: to find the truth in every moment.
Time for Class
A classroom-themed theatrical performance by Ba.Rz 86. Part spoken word, part hip-hop, part street sermon. The set functions through raw spoken word, moving from disarming stereotypes to a karmic, cosmic reckoning. Barrio Conscious Spiritualism explores survival, belonging, trauma, healing, and the stories we carry. Raw, rhythmic, and reflective.

Ba.Rz 86 (Bars Eighty-Six) is a spoken-word artist, performer, and founder of MBPStudios: a Miguel J Barrera Company. A Third Culture Kid of Mexica, Pipil, and European ancestry raised in Canada, his work draws from lived experience, ancestral memory, and a commitment to transforming struggle into art. Taking inspirations from artists such as M.F. Doom, Immortal Technique, Eminem, and De La Soul, he blends spoken word, hip-hop cadence, storytelling, dark humour, and cultural reflection into performances that explore identity, resilience, healing, and community. Fusing raw spoken word, intricate rhyme schemes, and performance masks, Ba.Rz 86 and MBPStudios create visceral, layered, theatrical experiences designed to challenge stereotypes and provoke a deeper look within and teach. Every piece a rebellion.
