Witches In the Closet

In 1691, two 15 year olds, Lenora Appleton (Victoria Stolting) and Corinna Bothe (Emma Sainte), are prosecuted for witchcraft due to sharing a kiss. Lucky for them, Lenora’s father is the head of the church and makes special arrangements for both of the girls. However, their fates are not quite as they hoped, and they are forced to make difficult choices. This coming-of-age historical romance musical follows the girls after their life-altering event, as they keep secrets and battle with their emotions of love and guilt.

After their run at this year's Edmonton Fringe, the company is thrilled to bring Witches in the Closet back to Victoria audiences!

About the Artist

Kendra Bidwell (she/her) is a theatre artist and graduate from the Bachelor of Creative Arts program at Yorkville University and from the Canadian College of Performing Arts. She lives and breathes art (in a healthy way), from performing and directing, to producing and creating. Though Witches in the Closet is set in a different era from our own, the prosecution of women parallels today. Ultimately, Kendra believes we need more stories about women in the theatre space, and she is passionate about creating and telling those stories. Favourite past works include March Madness: An Exploration of Operatic Hysteria (A. Corpus), and Witches in the Field (Venus Moon Theatre).

Emma Sainte (she/her) is a musical theatre performer and pop singer-songwriter. Emma releases pop music on music streaming services; previous releases include several singles and an EP (my memory box). Emma has had a lifelong passion for the performing arts. She has a Performing Arts Diploma from the Canadian College of Performing Arts and a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Music Studies from Berklee College of Music. Emma plays the violin and autoharp, and enjoys creative writing and various forms of visual art. More information about Emma’s theatre and music pursuits can be found at www.emmasainte.com.

Victoria Stolting (she/her) was born in Germany and moved to Comox Valley, BC, at the age of seven, where her passion for storytelling blossomed. She has trained at the Canadian College of Performing Arts, the Vancouver Academy of Dramatic Arts, On the Mic Voice Training, the Victoria Academy of Dramatic Arts, and more. Recent credits include Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat and White Christmas with VOS, Lionsgate Television’s Private Eyes West Coast, and Giovanni Starling and the Search for Mozart with Blue Bridge Repertory Theatre. Victoria is honoured to be a part of Witches in Closet, representing female and queer voices.

Based in Victoria, BC, Venus Moon Theatre aims to create more roles for women and queer performers in theatre, by producing projects by women and queer artists. In August, Venus Moon Theatre produced Witches in the Closet at the Edmonton Fringe Festival. Previously, Venus Moon Theatre presented Witches in the Field at the 2026 SKAMpede Festival in Victoria, BC. This was a 10-minute stand-alone show, following Lenora and Corinna from Witches in the Closet.
