What's Wrong with J McLaughlin: Episode 6 - Genius
What’s Wrong with J McLaughlin
Episode 6 - Genius
Death to hypocrisy, smash the state, damn the lies. Written for this
year’s festival, What’s Wrong with J McLaughlin: Episode
6: Genius is a wild ride through the dark heart of a mean,
funny, petulant, weird queer old maid. Expect anxiety, ecstasy, true
love, dark thoughts, outer space, inner peace, death, desire,
enlightenment, sex, smoking, drinking, fear, rage, paranoia, guilt,
greed, pleasure, false bravado, fake impostor syndrome, egomania,
megalomania, and cake.
Four out of five dysfunctional robots agree: “J McLaughlin’s desperate megalomania will make you feel better about your own problems.” Honesty is always the best policy if you're a lousy liar.

About the Artist
J McLaughlin is a shy, queer
anarcho-bourgeois musician and performer. They have been entertaining,
enthralling & occasionally unsettling burlesque, drag, stand-up,
theatrical & music audiences for over 30 years. They have been called
"hilarious", "legendary", "scary good", "rude", "dangerous" &
"intimidating".
Working from deep within an
incandescent cathedral of optimistic rage, McLaughlin’s solo
performances use intimate narrative, dark humour, & surreal ribaldry to
deconstruct the cognitive dissonance of living within a
cisheteronormative imperialist white supremacist capitalist patriarchy.
This Big Mouth Four Eyes Pirate Robot Chicken Baby is learning not to
think about what other people think, and loves you from the bottom of
their cold black heart.
